International Personnel Policy
The Tönissteiner Group is cooperating closely with internationally active German companies. Jointly with the BDA it undertook the project "Personnel policy and globalisation". In 2004 the Group intensively researched with 12 leading German enterprises the implications of internationalisation on personnel. The companies were surveyed as to job profiles, hiring practices, personnel strategy and personnel development, corporate culture as well as external factors such as education and the labour market. A report including results and recommendations was finalised in 2004.
In 2005 the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Personalführung (DGFP ) took up the recommendation of the group to set up a forum of experts on the topic "The human factor in M&A projects". Goal of the research was to understand the interaction between personnel management measures and the success of (inter)national M&A projects. Specific recommendations resulted, which together with the research report will be published in the series "Praxispapiere" of DGFP 2/2007.
The recruitment of political elites - what can we learn from the UK?
On October 16, 2008 the Tönissteiner Kreis and its Student Forum held a workshop on the recruitment of political elites in cooperation with the German Institute for International and Security Affairs in Berlin.
The initial presentations by Ms Christina Dykes (former Director of the Development and Candidates Department, Conservative Party) and Mr Roy Kennedy (Director Finance & Compliance, Labour Party) on the situation
in the British parties were followed by a discussion involving possible transfers to the German system. The workshop participants included members and speakers of the Kreis and its Student Forum and external guests,
including the British Ambassador to Germany, Sir Michael Arthur, and the Chairman of the SPD in Schleswig-Holstein, Dr. Ralf Stegner. For further details see the report enclosed.
